You forgot to say the big reason to have manually locking hubs. If you cannot disengage your hubs then your front drive shafts are always spinning even when you're not in 4x4 so it significantly reduces wear on the front drive system.

Who ever did that spray on liner. Needs to stop... That’s horrible work. They didn’t even cover the areas that weren’t getting spray good enough. I wouldn’t have paid or have them pay for the cost of paint repairs.

That retaining ring is a Spirolox and the springs in the locker are wave springs made by Smalley. There used in aerospace....

Once the Corvair is assembled Matt and the Team need to get the Banana really stuck and use the Corvair to pull it out. Find any bugs before on a customers vehicle and some shenanigans too.

Looks like you kept the 30 spline outers, should have gone to a 35 spline outer, even if they aren’t 4340 shafts, the 30 spline outers on the Dana 60 are the weak link by far.

I figured the track had changed when I saw the times. You all drive enough that when you 4 are all 11+ second behind, there is no way it was the same length. Also, keep up the good work on the Corvair. Going to be a sweet rig!

YOU FORGOT TO GREASE THE SPLINE ON THE NEW LOCK HUBS THEY NEED GREASE THEY ARE ALUMINUM COMPOSIT AND WITH OUT GREASE THEY WILL WEAR OUT QUICKLY... GOOD LUCK...

Sorry but that job on the coating is unacceptable. It’s going to suck when you finis your build and a year later you’re tearing it apart to have that redone... Let online the extra work you are doing right now because of the overspray. :-(

Hey Matt, If you have problems hooking up a manual parking brake, check out using a linear actuator. There is at least one "kit" you can purchase, or buy the actuator that meets your dimensional requirements and fab the mounting pieces for an easy location. Not difficult. Flip a switch and you're braked. I used a couple short small heavy springs between the actuator and cable so I wouldn't have to make any adjustments to get the pull distance exact.

Wow that undercoating shop did a piss poor job. First they most likely did not prep the car correctly the first time to have the under coating peel off. The second time they did not cover the painted body Dammmmmm that was a horrible job. I would have had them pay for new pain job!!!! your way tooooo nice Matt. I hope you got that for free! Cant wait to see your beast finished...

Has anyone worked out the total weight of the new truck, and is it going to have a front bar with a suitable heavy duty permanent winch attached , Supercharger on engine would be great when on sand playing around in 2 wheel drive .

MAACO can do a better paint job then that shop. I can say that because I'm a painter (not at MAACO). That overspray is completely inexcusable! plus all the fuzzy corners at the color change line. just atrocious tape job.

This is why I said that Matt should have painted and undercoated the thing...You can buy Rhino liner kits that you hook up to a compressor and start spraying.....between that nearly comatose painter and now this Vegas shop it is clear that Matt could have done a way better job with both jobs. I mean the undercoat is coming off before a single rock or tree branch has banged into it...If Matt hauled that thing back to UT and then had to haul it back to Vegas for coat 2 then there is NO WAY I would have paid that shop....I would have made them pay me.

Matt, sometimes you can fool those automated calling systems by talking more when you answer. Most people answer with "hello" and those automated systems listen for something short to determine if they reached a real person or a voice mailbox. You can try answering with "Hello this is Matt with Matt's off Road recovery, how are you today?" This can often fool the automated systems into thinking they reached voicemail. This can flag your number in their system as reaching voicemail and not a real person. Might reduce those calls.

Man all that hard work to complete the car and the undercoating job is no good. That stuff is just going to keep flaking off. Better just strip it all off and do something different. There is obviously issues there if its not sticking. It would suck to have suck a nice car and have that be a issue the whole life of it.

For what it's worth, whenever we're in Mesquite and the buffet at the Casablanca is closed, we hit up Peggy Sue's as a fallback. It's a decent little diner, if you're wanting something like that.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this company! I live a mile away from these bedliner guys and have an upcoming project in which I "PLANNED" on using them, but now I will look to use their competitor (Rhino) here in the Vegas Valley. There is no excuse for not properly preparing the surface to be treated nor is there any excuse for all of the overspray you are now faced with. That is shameful and I hope your video makes it back to the corporate offices. For those who are curious, if you look at the 6:31 mark, you'll see the logo on sign next to the freeway.....

If you don’t know what locking hubs are you are showing your age. The first 4 by4s I was around all had manual hubs the automatic didn’t come till later.
