Got over 255,000 miles on my 4.3. Daily driven. Only got 212,000 out of trans tho. Either fuel pump or lines blow once a year.

Never trust a mechanic that does not know you nor is not working on his stuff. "Professional," mechanics can be nothing but clock punches that do not care about what they do if it is kit their equipment.

Blazer transmissions were junk. They failed with ease. The Vortec 4.3 is a legend that should have never been matched with the junk transmission. But if the transmission input shaft is welded better or changed to an aftermarket setup, it is fine.

This snowcat is a nice TOY....... What you really need is a Nodelwell flextrack RN35model, the small one, that is about three times the size of your snowcat. Snowcats are norally used for gromming ski slopes.

Certified mechanic is just a person who purchased some paper ‘on-line’. AKA the Sally Struthers’ University of the Back of the Matchbook (I am dating myself here) Where YOU too can become a certified mechanic; or choose from a whole list of other highly paid, in demand careers. What you wanted is an ASE or ASE Master certification. I hope your warranty was in writing

Hey guys, ran grooming equipment at ski areas for years (including search and rescue with Sheriff Dept, Forest Service, etc). LMC is right down the road from you. They build SnoCats and could easily find you a decent used one that actually works and comes with owners manuals, technical help, specs, blah blah. Good luck with your rattle trap. Hopefully someone in an actual SnoCat doesn't have to come rescue YOU. LOL, love the vids, good luck!!!

I love purpose built machines. 1950's Bombi pulling out a brand new Range Rover. I have a bout 10,000 hours between a 400+, MP and winch cat. I miss the days in the snow, love it when a test drive is paid for!

To prepare that for the season Matt if I had that vehicle I would put a heater in it cuz it is going to get kind of cold out of the snow and put in all that sounded like what they use in classic cars it's not real thick but it makes for a very quiet ride and you might want to put in some thicker carpeting in the back and that will also stop on the sound deadening as well

I have an argo with that drag brake steering and it's absolutely useless in deep snow, you need to make an arc the size of a parking lot to turn because you can't get anywhere besides digging straight down with only one track pulling.

Need to get a light bar on the front and a few 4x4 lights in the rear for flood light spotting, if you put light bars on I'd recommend a bridged second battery with a battery disconnect switch ... my two cents

That was quite an afternoon..... one of the husbands flagged us down around 2 pm and said they were stuck towards lava point. We were heading into the cabin on snowmobiles. I had been watching Matt's videos the day before at home and thought we can call Matt. When we called Winder towing they said Matt had the snowcat in tow and were heading to Brianhead so no luck. We flagged down a passing by truck with a local gent from Hurricane "Clay" and he was going to try to yank them out. It was so icy.... 3" of snow on 6" of solid ice. Clay's winch was smoking and trying to pull with the snowmobile was not very productive. Clay went back to the main road for cell reception and tried to find other to help. We headed back to the cabin to drop our supplies and make a plan to shuttle the families to a nearby warm cabin. To our surprise when we got back the headlights of the Bombi were coming down Lava Point Road and the families had the biggest smiles on their faces. So glad Matt decided to test out the snowcat on Kolob and not head to Brianhead. Great vids!

Great vid, remember seeing a gear oil or additive on Deboss garage you can use that resists water mixing that they use in skidsteer drive boxes due to seals constantly leaking. 😷

What was that coming out from under that thing... Was you down there milking her!? That stuff was emulsified. How could water be getting into your differential? Maybe snow is getting piled up on a hole somewhere. No matter if you got a sunroof or not, nothing designed to hold oil, should be open to water getting into it.
